Yeah, it's true, today's my birthday. What's so significant about it?
Coz it's my 21st.
Oh well. Strange as it seems, i still feel the same. I had a party last night at Costa Sands. Okie i had trouble inviting everyone, it was a huge crowd. But there are a few who deserve to be shot coz they told me that they were coming, yet back out at the very last min. *Gun cocks* So to those whom i DID not invite; it's not that i don't value you people as much as not to invite you guys, but rather i had limited places allowed, not to forget resource constraints.
Now, alrite it was a wonderful party, everything was alright, though most of my guests came late *Gun cocks again* The start of the whole thing should had been 1700 hours. maowei and the saikang party came around 1600 plus. The guys made it around 1645 to 1730. The girls? Well, they came around 1830 onwards. Sigh. But came at least they did...
As usual the guys went to play soccer, regardless of what gear or dressing they were in - jeans, shirt, business pants etc. They can't help it, and as the host i had to hold the fort to welcome the rest of the stragglers. And one by one they came, the only problem was that all the stragglers left were girls. And lo and behold Pastor Ben and Lillian appeared, and made the remark that i was looking for a wife since all that remained at my chalet were females. =O And silly me made the comment that my criteria for Mrs Ng would be based on her culinary skills, and Ps Ben loudly proclaimed that all potential singles are to have one round of BBQ-ing so that i can decide on who she would be. Ha, guess the look on their faces! Especially the one that happened to be BBQ-ing at that point of time, the look was pricelss. =P
Of course there was the usual birthday song, the birthday speech which i thanked my father and mother (really!) and family, and the usual birthday prayer bestowed upon by Pope Glen Ong the First. I wondered what was the reason when everybody decided to disperse around 2030 onwards, right after the cake cutting (which btw was a huge 4 kilo cake... burp....), it could had been the rain, i wouldn't know. But there wasn't really a chance to talk to anyone, since i was so busy preparing stuff. But by 2100, i was pretty much alone, saved for a few guys who had missed the bus out.
From 2200 onwards, i was basically getting ready to sleep, and by 2300 i was already on my bed, drifting in and out of dreamland, and awaiting for the Hour to arrive. I was just staring into blank space while waiting, well, at least i was talking to my Heavenly Dad, and SMS chatting with someone too. And arrive the Hour did. It didn't come with wild celebration or any big hoo-ha; it came quietly without a word, and the realisation crawled to me slowly - i was 21. Hmmmm.
Okie... the sad thing was my birthday today was basically a tired day. It wasn't exactly the kind of birthday which i had hoped for, that i had always wanted; today was spent like any other normal day. Perhaps age has already caught up with me. Oh well. It's strange, i'm neither happy, nor sad, nor excited. Just feeling the tentacles of loneliness clawing slowly at me.
My birthday started with me staring at the chalet ceiling; it shall end with my return to camp soon tonight.
Coz it's my 21st.
